I am bad at names

A blog

Insomnia

I lie dead awake, as midnight draws near.
Outside, nocturnal silence, deafening to my ear.

And though the lights are out nearby,
While the solemn moon paces the night sky.
Still there is a flicker behind my eyes,
of maddening thought, though logic defies.

I wish so to sleep, to dream, and be free.
To explore far off lands, across imaginations sea.
To be gone with these ideas,
these thoughts inside my mind.
To give in to sweet release,
And leave them all behind.

It seems too much to ask,
and it’s getting late you see.
My ever-over-active mind,
is stealing my sleep from me.
